BREAKING BARRIERS: LOTTE IN SPAIN

Lotte was joined by the QUADRANT team at MXGP Galicia this weekend, where they were able to see the sheer skill it takes to do what Lotte does - from catching serious airtime to performing strategic overtakes on her competitors. Round 3 of 7 in the WMX championship took us to Lugo in Northwest Spain, where Lotte was determined to have a spectacular weekend.

Qualifying took place on Saturday morning where Lotte came P1. In Motocross races, qualifying allows the riders to choose their starting positions so they can get the best start for the race, otherwise known as gate pick, which is usually on the inside corner. With 29 riders in a WMX race, it is crucial to make your way to the front of the pack early, so securing P1 and bagging gate pick made for a great start to Lotte’s weekend.

In WMX, there are two races per round, the first race, which takes place on a Saturday, allows for points to be scored but does not include a podium finish, which is saved for a Sunday spectacle. This means the winner of the round is decided on the Sunday. Lotte managed to finish P2 in Race 1, showing great pace and confidence. While happy to be so securely in the points, she was disappointed not to have grabbed that P1 spot, making her even more determined to lock in for Race 2.

So, on the Sunday, Lotte turned her P2 into a P1 in the second race of the weekend. The QUADRANT team were trackside watching our athlete clinch her second P1 weekend of the 2024 calendar. The weekend ended with champagne and QUADRANT on the podium, with Lotte at the top of the Championship table with 141 points, 9 points ahead of second place as she heads into the next race in Germany on the 1-2nd of June.

It was an equally busy weekend for our other QUADRANT athletes, including Iván and Oliver who also competed around the world in their respective categories. Iván competed in the Moto3 GP in France where he placed an impressive P5, and Oliver in WRC2 Portugal who unfortunately did not finish his weekend due to crashing out, but is thankfully ok!

Look out for Lotte and Max on the QUADRANT ATHLETES channel coming soon!
