THE WORKER TROUSER

INSPIRATION

Mechanics and drivers alike crouch on their knees working on the bike before and in between the races, probably wearing out their trousers quickly on the concrete. Inspired by this, we've patched up the knee section, but while embodying the raw energy and DIY approach this is done with the edges left unfinished and fraying through wear and wash.

THE BUILD

The trousers are constructed using a sturdy 275gsm medium weight 100% cotton twill, a classic of workwear fabric characterised by its diagonal line textures. However, these are made using a less common left hand twill (as opposed to right hand twill), a weave where the diagonal lines run down towards the left hand side. In combination with the clockwise spun cotton yarn, it gives the fabric a softer handle than usual twill fabrics. This washed and worn look is replicated by running the fully finished garment through an acid wash cycle, fading away the colour of the fabric around stresspoints and seams and increasing the fraying of the raw finished seams.

THE DETAIL

Front pocket entry shape is curved, which is a nod to the utilitarian fatigue pockets seen on trousers used by mechanics as well as on vintage race suits. Instead of having actual fatigue pockets patched on externally, pocket bags are moved to the internal for a cleaner look.

Back pockets are oversized for easy access with function in mind, shape is inspired by classic denim back pockets
